DickB could probably help as his wood clock works with lots of wood gears.
I'm still very impressed with this project. Very unique.

    Default New model reel.

Designed another one. These are getting to be a regular hobby with me anymore. This one even has a decent drag system that works pretty well. I call it a Center Pivot Mini, as it's only 2 3/4" long by 1 3/75" tall. It only uses the cutting bit, so it's even fast to cut! Currently polishing up the pattern. Oh, these new gears worked out a lot better, and I think I'll go back to the other one and try them in it.Click image for larger version.

That reel is pretty cool! I can believe you can make all those parts, nice job.

That is amazing, but I am dissapointed that you didn't come up with a wooden spring.

Trust me, Clint, I've tried to come up with a wooden spring! So far with no luck. This small, that flexes and won't break after one or two uses? No go so far. But, oh, how I have tried!

Thank you, guys! I'm really starting to get into designing and making these. It may not be all that much of a 'niche', but it's all mine!
