Thread: Wood WORKING fishing reel.

  1. #1

    Default Wood WORKING fishing reel.

Spent the past few (way too many!) months designing and making this. It's a fully working wood fishing reel. Even the gears are wood. All, of course, done on the CW. Made of walnut and hickory. I made a plaque to hang it on by etching a Bass and the lettering onto a piece of wood I got from another one of our CW members, Glen Yoder. He said his dad cut it when he was little, and never got around to doing anything with it before he passed. Hope he thinks this is a worthy project for it!Don't think I'd actually take this thing fishing, but it sure is a nice conversation starter....Click image for larger version.

Wow, that is beautiful. You know you have to catch a fish with it.

That is Fantastic! I can see how much work went into this, and a reel completely out of wood. Great Job!

Beautiful work! Is it functional in the real world? I wouldn't expec t it to go fishing, but can it do demonstrtion casts in the backyard?
