I have checked and bypassed the cover switch still have open condition when using sensor check. I have reseated the connector as well as inspected the cable for breaks. I was told by first level support that the right hand switch does not give cover open message only left. So any ideas before I buy a new controller?

    Thanks Jay

Did you meter the switch to see if it is working.

Doesn't sound like controller issue. Dust maybe or bad close cover switch?

When you bypassed the switch, did you jump across the switch or the circuit board?

Make sure the tab on the cover is depressing the switch fully, could be the tab is not making contact.

9 out of ten times it is the switch - remove the switch from the circuit, connect the black and white wire directly and see if it resolves the issue.

2 Links for the switch on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o02_s00_i00

Just remove the small metal lever and solder it in and you are good to go.

Had a customer called to order box and shipping materials to send machine in for repair. Asked if they had done any troubleshooting with a tech first. They said no and ended up the only thing wrong was they didn't have memory card in yet and contrast button needed to be adjusted.

A little assistance over the phone saved them a ton of money. They were happy!!

I have to admit that even now, after all these years, Once in a blue moon (what ever that is) I'll flip the switch on and go"OH NO", then realize I didn't have the card in yet. LOL

I did completely jump out switch then checked sensor no help, I am thinking about using a hard driver jumper to terminate at the board taking the wiring out of the picture.

I was having cut motor errors and even though support said its a different error I am wondering if the two are somehow related. I did buy centerline and bits and when I tried to carve the motor did not spin and the bit dragged across board. I removed the cover and checked boards, pulley, belts all look good. This machine has 98 hours carving some pine so its not been worked hard. I also pulled the bottom off and checked the power supply ac controller board and gear train.

Is there any micro fuses on the board or can a open circuit be created by the cutting motor?

Thanks for the responses I continue my journey

Check cut motor is not related to your close cover issue. If you got the check cut motor msg while doing a centerline carve, this is a common msg received on a centerline and is not a problem. Just hit continue and go back to carving. But is seems you might be having other issues as you said the cut motor did not come on as it should.

Check to insure the two wires at the cut motor (far back corner) are plugged in coming from the far cover switch.

Close cover, Is it possible (and it can happen) that you have the plug at the circuit board plugged in backwards? White wire goes away from the keyboad side. Also, since your profile is 2007, does your machine have the A907 upgrade? With the A907 the plug from the cover switch will be on the top right (as you are viewing from the front of the machine), if not it plugs into bottom left..

I checked the switch as well as jumping out the switch all together. I cant seem to figure out what else might be broken in the circuit. I double checked to make sure a pin was not bent on the connector as well. Sometimes they put micro fuses on boards to protect them and maybe a static charge or something.

I do have the A09 upgrade and I triple checked the connector. I dont believe the board it plugs into looks like its burnt. So what controls the sensors is that where the memory card plugs into?
