Help with squadrin patch patt

I am tring to make a plaque with a good squadrin patch pattern. I have tried to import it but cant seam to make it come out right.

Here is what I came up with really quick. Used Paint.net, made pic black and white, lightened pic, then gausiann blur level of 2 then import into designer and inverted during import.

The image of the patch shows the cloth imprint, I found a LOGO image of the VMAT-203, will this work?
