Art, whether it is photography, traditional painting or fine art furniture is worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. In short, it's not really about what something is worth, it's about what people think it is worth. There has been crap sold for millions and really great work that barely takes in the cost of materials. Like the previous, it's not about how good you are, it's about how good people think you are. Humility is a fine human virtue, but to make money, you need to have an ego large enough to demand, and expect, payment for your work that goes beyond the average. Thing is, if you don't value your work, then nobody else will either. It's all about perception.

    Jason,
Very true about one's home town.

When I live in my Ohio Home Town, it was the same way as you have stated about your Home Town.

People feel that you should always be giving them a deal do to you grew up there, really leaning more towards small Home Towns.

Hope what I just stated makes sense.
    Happy Carving

...the 2 roubo bookstands I made got $5 each in the silent auction....

I think I'd have rather given $10 to the school instead

I guess I value my work too highly...
