Default Location and Carving Material Query

A friend and I are looking at this for a multitude of purposes. I know all woods are on the block for carving, but what about softer stone? Like soapstone?

Also, is there anybody in or around El Paso, Tx that would be willing to show off their machine? No stone cutting, just simple wood carving like the machine was intended for.

    Thanks in advance

I can think of several reasons why stone would likely be a bad idea, dust first and formost. The motors are in with the cutter so the stone dust (much finer and grittier) would be circulated throught out everything, that can't be good. The weight could be an issue and soap stone might just crush under the weight of the feed rollers 80 lbs. of presure.
