    Default My 2nd attempt

My 2nd attempt at using my Carvewright machine.. My 1st thing was just my name and a corner thingy.. Don't like the way this does lettering, I do a much better job with my hand router. Anyway, I'm sure I will figure it out, or maybe I gotta add the Centerline.. Anywho, I had this in JPEG for a scroll pattern.. I imported it, played with it just a little and this is what came out.. I'm sure if I played with the photo's 1st in photo software, I could get rid of some of the rough spots... I hope that the upload photo worked.. If that worked I will post the saved designer file.. Maybe someone can use it and clean it up for themselves..

Maybe if you post the picture or pattern file that you have, someone might be able to work with it a little

Looking good for your 2nd carve! Yes editing your image first in either a photo editor or the pattern editor software with help you with the rough spots. When you are setting up your project you might also try to put some "draft" on the pattern. It helps with the edges to round them out a bit. Play with it in designer to see.

What type/kind of text did you have for this? Was it the text from the image? If so that expains part of the problem. Also what bit optimization did you have set for the pattern and what quality setting did you choose during the upload to the card? All of these make a difference the the carve quality.

    Keep on carving!!

Kt the pattern is rough because it needs Gaussian blur or denoise to smooth it out. Plus if you share the mpc we can look at the font. So you hand route too, I have a sign shop and until the CW I hand routed all my signs! If want to check my signs out www.rcwoodworksonline.com.

I would love to see some of your hand routed signs! Ps great design on your sign!

Now I know why the lettering came out the way it did. It is sometimes better to add the font rather then using the font from a j-peg. Say do you have pattern editor? If you do you can use it to make your patterns!

JPG's are a problem for the CarveWright. The compression will cause the picture to have "noise" the CarveWright tries to carve to. Even if you try to clean it up in a good program such as Corel or Photoshop it still leaves something to be desired. BTW PNG files are the files of choice to bring to the CarveWright.

This is what it might look like using Centerline or additive Raster
