    Default beer bottle

Thanks Tom and lynchburgbull. I looked closer at the bottle, it is fine, quite large in size 1.6Mb, and decided to make a few changes. One I raised the height so the center of the bottle is at about .028 carve depth, second, reduced the pattern size to more of a normal bottle size, and reduced the overall file size to 122KB. Here is that pattern.

You are welcome Tom. Leo I saw Toms post and had to wait for 18 mo old grandson was here. When they left I did the foam, using ZBrush, pulling the edges out then sculpting. Since the bottle was already made it took about 15 minutes. The bottle itself was made using MoI3d, trace outline on one side, use revolve to make the bottle. Save as STL, bring into blender to create a bass relief, into PS to finish the relief (gray scale), then into designer, adding a little smooth in PE. Took longer to create the 2.5d pattern than it did to create the 3d pattern. Since the stl was 3d, I exported the original pattern from pe to stl (now I had an stl in 2.5d), meshlab to create the obj for ZB, and import into ZB, sculpt as I mentioned, export out of ZB, meshlab to stl again and into designer.

Little demonstration on beer bottle using designer. Remember I do not have the 2d or the 3d suite.
    1) beer bottle as image upside down as required for woods
    2) beer bottle as background in designer
    3) tracing bottle using spline tool
    4) settings
    5) using puffing tool
    6) actual pattern made.
    7) delete the woods beer bottle.

    Oh forgot, thank you Henry

Found a cool comb pattern on nipic.com. So I made it into a two sided carve!

I thought the comb idea is great but I was not sure how the cut out would work. I wonder if anyone thinks this might work better. I removed the cut out and used the carving depths on the front and back to create a thin cut out. I added some draft and put in some manual tabs to hold the piece in. I am still not sure the comb bristles wont break and if wood is used it would have to be a hard wood with the grain in the right direction but still worried about comb bristles breaking. I am thinking this might be good for corian. I am sure the experts could do a better job of chiming in.
