Get yourself a usb flash drive and take the project file with you too. If your shop has internet access you could use Google drive or similar service to access your designs from both computers.

Not sure if this can be done or even if it's been asked.
It'd be nice to be able to take files back off of the card to edit or as a backup in case of loss.

You cannot recover the files from the data card. They have been compiled into machine code. It's sort of like baking a cake. After all of the ingredients have been mixed and it has been baked it might be possible but...

Just make a habit of always saving to your hard drive before you upload it to a card. It will ask you if you want to save it before you close it.

i am still on designer 1.187 so excuse my ignorance if the features have been added to 2.0 or 3.0. it would be nice to have some sketchup like tools added. tape measure, the little "tick marks" to show a certain spot. the ability to center objects and text on the "tick" marks. im learning the keyboard shortcuts which are very helpful.

Usually when I think of ideas, someone already thought of them and its in production. This one though may be a first. How about a WiFi memory card? Just send the project file to your machine via WiFi. Should I patent it? I should at least get royalties if no one has thought of it.

Sounds like a good idea, I have a 30 gig wifi memory stick by scandisk, so I'd say it is possible. Another idea which I'm sure someone already had would be have designer show the cut path for the tool, at least in the X & Y axis.

I still want a cross section view so you can see how close a 2 sided carve is. Sliding it to the end does not always work, especially for complex projects.

Clint, I use a line tool drawn in any direction where you start anywhere on the board and drag it off the board, then go back
and drag the start point off the board too. do a cut path on the line and flip the cut and hide then you can rotate the board to see the cross section of both patterns
    see attached.
