If this is what your looking for, you make your Domed Shape into a Pattern
then you can adjust it to nearly any size or angle you need.

    Default Initial X axis walking...

Have been doing a lot of small carves on a 24"+ sled, and find the initial sequence to determine the length of the board less than optimal...

Currently (in 1.171), the machine (from the vantage point of the control panel):

    * Senses the left edge first,
    * moves the length of the board to sense the right edge, then
    * moves the length of the board to find the left edge to measure the board, then
    * moves all the way back towards the right edge to begin the bit / surface checks.

    Seems the machine should simply:

    * Sense the right edge first,
    * move the length of the board to sense the left edge, then
    * move the length of the board to find the right edge to measure the board,
    * leaving the board in a closer proximity to begin the bit / surface checks.

This will save walking the extra entire length of the board during the initial sizing check...

Personally, the two things that would absolutely be awesome for me would be:
    1. The ability to modify the "draft" with more precision than small, medium and large. Truthfully, I seem to often need something between the small and medium. A draft "slider" would be great.
    2. An additional text tool that would allow you to give the letters more dimension...maybe something that would let you choose from some edge/center profiles or create your own profiles. Attachment 38925

Conform is a good addition to our options, and will come in handy.
However, we still need the ability to control the "Maximum Centerline Depth" when we desire (not to be mistaken for "Maximum Pass depth).
I'm/We're fully aware that this may alter the profile of the text at times, but it is needed to allow us the deal with other issues we have at the time.

    Default Scanning Probe length

Please pass this on to Joe, and any Engineer that it applies, so they/we
    can "Blue Sky" my theory.

I'm looking at my two Scanning Probes, and the protective tips. I see that
the protective tips extend my reach somewhat. I also see that the
Z-movement can cover about three inches.
    My question/suggestion is:
Can you/we retro-fit the probe with a metal tip, as long as possible so we
may scan deeper reliefs? Metal would be stronger/better than just adding
    the protective tip.

I understand that the carving depth is limited, however, you/we now have
items such as STL that may adapt nicely to this deeper scan. We also have
the ability to change the pattern depth via Pattern Editor.

Hopefully, the answer is "YES, it can be done". I, for one, am willing to
spend a few extra $$ for this retro-fit.

Great Idea, Bud, and might I add to a later model even, by adapting a laser probe to the CarveWright which can do the same even deeper probes ... and if geared to a rotating axis, could even probe in three D with the "right" jigs. Elaborate addition, to be sure, but nothing that LHR isn't capable of doing and doing within a budget, given the time and motivation.

    Default Repeat carves

This is a post that should be here rather than stand alone.

I would like to add a request to the wish list
I do quite a bit of repetitive carving using the same sled with the same material and the same bit each time. It would niece to be able to store all the commands you have to enter each time once and then enter the number of times or copies that is needed. Some of my carvings only take 8 to 10 min., then I have to answer all those questions again. this way I would only have to raise the head, change the material in the sled, lower the head, hit enter and let it rip.
Maybe this could be put under the REPEAT comand as another layer.
Any comments on this subject, if not I will keep on the way I have been going.

How about beefing up the centering function allowing items to be centered on each other and not just the center of the board, and center objects from the back of the board to objects on the front. Maybe even adding a group front and back so that I could create double sided items and move them around.
