Is there something I need to upgrade to have access to larger bits in the carvewright machine menu? All I see are the two standard ones.
Cheers!

It's like the Looking for Waldo in a find Waldo Puzzle.... It's all in the Eye.... They are there.
Draw a box or text. then it lets you select the bit.....
You cannot add bigger bits as the machine is not designed for them. This is a Hobby Grade Machine.
Watch the V90 bit when it does it's left side Bob going down toward the brass roller and seeing how close the side of the bit is to touching metal from the bit toward the middle of the machine.
Since we have no control over the motor RPM and the Feed Rate, a large bit would break something running at full speed.

Favorite Saying.... "It's ALL About the Brass Roller"..... And "Use MASKING TAPE" for board skipping in the X or breaking bits.

Sorry but I am confused. I can or I can't. I referring to the bits for sale in the store http://store.carvewright.com/product...cat=293&page=1
The machine is a CompuCarve Rev A.
Or are you saying unless I select the bit to be used in the software, it will not show up as an option on the machine?
What version of the software are you using?
Perhaps you need to bring the system up to the current version (it's free).
Yes, you select the bits while you design the project, not as it runs throught the machine. The machine will confirm your selections as it begins the carving process.

I'll have to check on the machine software version but basically, I want to create a simple ramp up and down over 4 feet, removing material as quickly as possible.
I've sent you a private message.
You may need a sled to accomplish your goal.

I'll have room on the ends. Something like this.
So you are trying to speed up the carve process by selecting a larger bit instead of the 1/16 carving bit? Unfortunately for raster carving the carving bit is you only real option. Others might know of a trick.... so dont give up hope yet.

This may require a long carving duration for a 4 foot area. It may need to be done using the carving bit (and no other)!
