    Default Buds Inventory Reduction

Since I have changed to the CarveTight assembly, I have decided to reduce my parts inventory.

I will only respond to PM replies/orders/confirmations. That way this thread should remain a listing of items still available. All quoted costs include shipping.

I'm interested in 1/16 carving bits but I have a new machine and don't use QC's. Will these work? I don't understand "PM replies/orders/confirmations". I'm too new and dense as well.

PM=Private Message. Rather than a posting to any thread, the PM goes directly to that member.
Click on the members name, and it is one of the options you will see.

The 1/16 carving bit and the 1/8 cutting bit, that are made for the QC Adapter, will not work in the CarveTight (CT) chuck. This is due to the type of metal from which they are made (Carbide). Those two bits require a pressed on sleeve for use in the CT.

You mean that the 1/16"carving bits and the 1/8" bits you have are not carbide? Are they high speed steel?

As stated by LHR, The 1/16 Carving and the 1/8 Cutting bits are carbide but will not be secured tightly enough in the split collet used in the CarveTight Assembly (CT). The carbide shank, on these two bits, requires a "Pressed on sleeve" in order to assure that the bit is slip proof in the CT!

They work in the QC Assembly because they have a flat spot for the Adapter screw to hold the bit in place.

My take is that Carbide is harder than normal steel, and therefore not as easy to compress as steel.
