I believe others have posted that it was a pretty critical part. Mostly they were seeing tracking/measuring issues. But if you are not have any problems, not sure what to make of it. Perhaps an extra one was just dropped in your machine during assembly? You may want to see if the one that is supposed to be in the brass roller mechanism is indeed there.

It most likely came out of the machine since I didn't know where it went. I have printed the thumb nail from the mentioned thread for future reference. Will look tomorrow I'm sure that this machine is not like cars where a missing bolt here or there will not hurt.
