Carving wrong size

Hi Guys
I carved some shelf brackets last night(using cutpath) and they came out
about half the size they should have. I went back to cpu redid
the pattern and tried again and same thing.
Any suggestions? I used the measure board option and it measures
the board correctly.

Jeff,

It sounds like you are telling the machine when prompted to scale the project to the board. To avoid this make sure you follow the 7" rule and add the 7" extra inches to the board length.

My guess is that, while you loaded the project onto the machine, you were asked if "you wished to Scale the project", and you selected YES.

Remember the 7 inch rule!

Thx for the quick response guys.
I'm not sure about the scale thing, but I did hit stay under
rollers. board is 22" and the carve is about 10". And of course
i'm at work now and machine is home. Will try again tonight.

Jeff - my turn to confuse you

If the board in Designer is 22" long (the same as your real board), regardless of where the carve is, if you tell the machine to stay under the rollers, it will scale the project, and mess up your carve.

If, however, the board in Designer is 22" long, and your carve is 10" long, AND assuming the carve is no where near 3.5" from either end of Designer's board, you can tell the machine NOT to stay under the rollers (you know it will anyway). It then will NOT scale your project.

Clear as mud? (sorry, I never claimed to be a good 'splainer)

Yup, now confussed. Believe or not I have done a couple projects
that turned out right somehow.
Let me see if I have this right.
In designer the board would 10" long
In the machine I put a board 17" or longer
and don't select stay under rollers.

Yup, you got it. Basically, you either leave 3.5 inches empty on each side of your board in designer and choose no to stay under rollers, or you add 7" to your dimension from designer and choose no to stay under rollers. You can safely tell it not to stay under the rollers because YOU know that the extra 3.5 inches on each end is there, and that it really WILL stay under rollers.

Correct... IF you center your project on board... if you select place at end.. if wont stay under rollers in that case.

Ok sounds good, will give it another try tonight.

P.S. I made the dust scoop that I found on here, my appoligies,
I can't remember the name of the guy who posted it, but it works
like a charm. Very little clean up after a carve.
