    Default replacement chuck

Here are the pictures of my home made QC replacement. A friend and I made because I was having so much trouble with the old QC and loose bits. i have had this one on for about a year with very little trouble. The machine runs alot cooler and not as much noise.

Yes I have one set screw on the side of the chuck. The 1/4 I install bit up to the flange on the adapter that way I can put it back at the same place every time. The 1/2 bits have flat spot on them that tighten the set screw into but not tight and push the bit up one side of the flat against the screw and tighten.

Did you weld a sleeve to the remains of a QC nut?

Yes we did only because we didn't know how to turn inside threads on the lathe. Welding it to the nut part of an old QC was are way get around that.

Are you going to sell them? Or we send you old QC.... Like we don't all have a drawer full.... and you send us a chuck.... ?

Must be some kind of jig to get it perfectly centered.... and balanced.... Nut to sleeve centered...

I would be interested in one..... 1/4 inch....

Are they welded? Or is this the JB Weld version I remember hearing about way before the ROCK? Still interested....

Nice job !! I just lost one after 5 carves . Their are a bunch of machine shops around me and most of them owe me a freebe.
What holds the bit in the adapter ?

    Thanks Michael

Looks like a Set Screw holds the bit in the adapter. Picture 4 shows it with the set screw...

That is the one I want....

    It is simple and works....

    I like IT....
