Baseball bat railing

First i want to say thanks for tearing apart the STL format for me !
Cant remember who did it.

Here is some pictures of the completed baseball bat railing. Its 3-1/2" dia and 48" long. Made from maple, and just clear coated.
Over 12hr carve time and there are 6 pcs glued up.

You dont happen to have any other pictures of your project "along the way" do you? It would be interesting to see how the STL layers came out of the cw and what your assembly process was.

This was my 1st STL file that I created,Heres a littel story of what i did..

I created the Bat in Solidworks and had it sent out for slicing.

Received all 6 pcs of the bat in png format.

Took each one and imported them into the designer, Then added the the board (5-1/2"wide X 50" long X 7/8" thick ) and created 5 out of 6 programs. Since the thickness was at .75 deep and the board was .875 thick I had tabs around the hole pc (.125 left on the bottom of the board) so i cut it out on the bandsaw. What I should have done is is planed off the .125 on the bottom instead of bandsawing it out. This made it a little out of round but you cant really tell.

Now back to the other pc 6 out of 6, there was a middle pc that was .52 deep. this is where is ran the progect and took it out to the planer and planed it until it got to the .52 thickness. Then the piece broke right out without the bandsaw.

Then started to pc together, most of the spots had a little sanding( because of the .125 on teh bottom). Took my time gluing 2pc at a time until I had 2 halfs of a bat. Once the two side were glued up took around 2-3 hrs of sanding. then a coulpe coats of varish and some screw holes and mount to the wall...

Now i wish i had taken pictures along the way, next time. i will look over Michaels projects and see if i can do somethnig similar. If you dont mind Michael ?

Of course I don't mind. I wish everyone would photo-document their cool projects if/when they have the time to do so!
