I notice that most folks really like the adobe photo shop. Which one are ya'll using? The full photoshop or the photoshop elements. I can see spending 80 bucks but not a 1000.
Thanks in advance for the info.

I have both - PS Elements will probably take care of most of your needs.

You could look at Corel PhotoPaint, too. You can get it, along with Corel's vector package, for a lot less than Adobe's Creative Suite. (Personally, I like DRAW better than Illustrator for vector work, but I like PhotoShop better than PhotoPaint for bitmaps.)
Don't forget about GIMP and INKSCAPE. Both are full featured versions which compete with Photoshop(FULL) and Illustrator. They are both free, updated on a pretty regular basis and cross-platform.

http://sourceforge.net/ - is a place to go when searching for open-source alternatives to expensive software packages!
There seems to be a very active community out there and lots of online tutorials available. I am going through some of them now so I can start to develop my own patterns for my carvewright

What I am using is Photoshop CS2. I think they are up to version 4 or 5 now. I got mine back in 2004 or 2005.
