This option drives me nuts! I have asked before about what this option really means and still lost.
Sorry, I'm old...
I did a sample this morning with the attached mpc file. It is just two rectangles with a small recess for gluing in some CW carved block letters.
The block individual letters are 'A Clue'. Don't ask why. My oldest daughter wants it for a friend and I did not bother to ask.
Anyway, I have no more of the Padauk: (Pterocarpus soyauxii) that I used so it was a good thing I made a test carve on some scrap oak I had.
I normally answer to stay under rollers. NO
For this test I said yes. Big mistake. I ran another and used NO... as I usually do and it carved as I wanted.
I am using the latest software...
I used NO because I read in the Tips collection the following:
CarveWright TiPS & TRiCKS - MARCH 2009
Page One bottom right..
Extra 3˝ at each end = 7 Total
This is required to keep the board
under the rollers at all times, and to prevent
scaling when selecting “YES” to Stay Under Rollers.
Not fighting the tip or who wrote it.
When I answered "YES" the two rectangles were scaled way down in size. Maybe 1/2 what they should have been. I did not measure.
Yes, my fixture made to hold the already carved wood that will have the two rectangles carved into it was a few thousand's off on length/width from what I put into the mpc. No more that 0.4mm. The dashed rectangles in the mpc are the wooden parts of the fixture that holds the to be carved wood in the center. The fixture is FLAT and smooth sanded front and back to match the to be carved wood.
What gives?
