Default First attempt with STL import

Thought I'd share my first attempt. Its far from perfect, but again, a first- dinosaur bone scanned in with a laser-scanner, then put into STL and then imported and scaled with the new software. The result is the only digital dinosaur bone pattern for CW I know of! Big deal, I know- its just fun to begin to see desires and hopes and plans taking shape ( I've wanted to do this for years). One bone now, a complete (and accurate) scale model skeleton shortly.

    Default Importing STL Files

Just how did you go about importing STL files? I have SolidWorks and AutoCad that produce STL files but have not been able to import them into Designer.

Curious Bill, update it to what? Is there a newer version than 1.134 without buying the importer?

I know but I am not ready to do that. I never update until I see a bug list from others. Years have taught me that. That is why I requested a picture.

I beta tested software from various companies for years. I am through with that!

Thank you sir! In all my posting on the Forex forums over the past few weeks, I guess I simply missed that.

You need to install update 1.150. Under File > Import: select Import STL file. This activates the STL Converter. I use SolidWorks and AutoCAD for all my stuff also. The Converter is easy to use. Basically just set your scale then slice the model to any thicknesses you want. Don't forget to the tabs. I'm cutting my first three part 3-D piece right now.

Hopefully we'll be able to add STL files to the CarveWright Pattern Depot soon.
