The machine works fine with weathered pieces, as you can see from the example image below (taken from our Results page on the website). It was cut from a redwood plank taken from an old deck.
The major requirement for weathered or warped pieces is that they need to keep contact with the positional aux roller at the bottom of the machine. Pieces too warped to lie flat, or pieces missing chunks where they would roll over the aux roller wheel, may not be carveable.
