Big Sign

The old saying " A Realey Big Sign "

20 ft long 2.5 ft high .
Both sides so 40 ft of sign.

Made with 3 " Chanel steel frame , 1/2 ext plwood core, Alm 24" rolll stock bacground , PVC Letters , Carvings PVC 12" Trim stock .

Mounted to 2" Steel chanle bolted down into roof trusses .

Took more than a day to build.

Did you use Black PVC Board? or Paint it....?

How did you treat the ends with the open pores?

There has been a lively discussion over on Signs 101 about this. I have a bunch of PVC board and got a Sign request for pool signs, V Carved...

The engine was panted black with Rustolim Plastic Primer then Plastic spray paint.
Sprayed cut edges with two coats of plastic primer to help seal

One more thing ,PVC will expand & shift so I mounted letters & carvings with washer head screws #8 just snug through a 3/8 hole drilled on each corner to allow for expansion and contraction. Bottom of Alm stock screwed but top is just behind metal fram .
