Oh, that would be a handy setup!
A hook style spanner is much easier to use on those ER-11 collet nuts than those castle style ones that come with it, unfortunately I can't remember what size it is...
I can't think of a manufacturer off hand, but you should be able to find a 1/2" to 3/16" reducer collets that will work.
Machinist supply places might have them, I think Amana tools might make some...
I had never heard of the ruptured ducks.
So I spent some time reading about them the other night, very interesting.
I looked for an image or something to work of of for pattern, not much for decent...
Oh for crying out loud....... I think I skipped right over that part of that video the other night when I was searching around for an answer.
I'm heading out the door for work in a few minutes, I'll...
So I was experimenting with the "Select Materials" function today while avoiding other projects.
And I recalled from the past that I could rotate the pattern direction by inverting the "H Sample/V...
And now I just realized I posted my comment in your Z-Brush thread not the Blender thread!....LOL
The first version of Blender I downloaded years ago was dramatically different than it is now.
I download Blender, then I delete, then I read this thread and download it again...................
But I never take the time to learn it, then delete it and the cycle starts all over..................
I'm not positive, but I thought there was a monthly project a few years ago that was a heart shaped box too.
Well it looks like a fun project, that's for sure!
LOL..... What a project!
How many hours of carve time are you up to so far?
Oh wait, never mind that, how many hours of design time are you up to so far?
Just fan freakin'tastic, it makes me...
I find mdf problematic to finish any time it’s machined not just in the Carvewright.
The cut surfaces are hard to get the finish as smooth as the face of the sheet.
Without going to industrial...
I use it for tests and for projects.
I don't have any data to support my claim, but I think MDF does have a tendency to dull bits a little quicker than some woods.
That probably the biggest...
Great idea, and nicely done.
That oil really made that nice contrast pop!
Thanks Al, I appreciate it!
That's not what I pictured it looking like, I've never had any reason to pull my Z bearing carriage yet so I have never seen behind it before.
Because of the hours you...
I like the one you completed, it turned out great!
Your angle one looks like it should carve really nice too.
Very interesting, thanks!
What I find curious too is that "speed sensor" behaviour.
What I've seen on typical industrial spindle motor sensors is what we always called a "speed sensor" in...
Thanks everyone, I sure appreciate the kind words.
I think I needed a project like this again.
Years ago I did a fair number of things like this, then I kinda drifted away from it.
This was a...
You're gonna make me end up joining Facebook yet, ain't you?.......LOL
I haven't put more than 20 seconds of thought into this yet, so I probably shouldn't even open my mouth until I look into it...
I've been sitting in the shop painting whenever I had a bit a free time, I've also been hacking, coughing and sneezing with some crud that's been going around here, but I did manage to finish it up...
lol.....I just meant that if I'm doing a quick carve I'll gamble and go for the bare minimum least number of tabs I think I can sneak by with, but when my carve times start hitting that 10-20 hour...
I really like that design a lot, I'm looking forward to seeing the end result too.
Thanks everyone!
Painting a carving for me is almost like a coloring book, because I have lines to follow.
I couldn't paint that on just a plain flat sheet of paper.
Just remember, you...
Well..... I'm still a long ways from finished, but It's starting to shape up, I'm happy with the direction it's going so far.
I have a fair amount of touch up and detail work to do on Santa yet,...
