Turned out pretty well i thought, but i did shorten the chains a little after i had taken this picture.
Customer was extremely happy...
the mess hall sign is stained with Minwax dark walnut, and top coated with bullseye varnish. It has about 8 coats of the varnish on it, between each coat, I scrubbed it with #00 steel wool.

I have searched for a nice magnolia pattern, both on the patterndepot, the forums, and vectorart3d, and have not found ONE magnolia pattern..
I am willing to pay a reasonable price for a magnolia...

Thanks for the tips there...

Ok, I have had issues today. I love my machine when it's acting right, want to throw it in the lake when it's not.
Background: Carvewright b or c, don't remember right this second, have...
Funny thing about facebook. There is a group on facebook for the county that i live in. I had a friend tell me two months ago to post something on there... I didn't. Had some downtime this week,...
Yes, I used just stuff that came with designer, with the exceptions of my router, miter saw, the 3/8 straight bit, and a free font that I downloaded.
thanks for the kind comments all. They are...
To kind of repay some of the great ideas, advice, patterns, and encouragement I have received here, I would like to share a little project.
This is a project that I designed myself, so please be...
well, i will take that advice, i cut a couple of blanks, and after I pull off the bearing swap, I will try with a board that has been chillin' (warmin?) in the house for a while.
Thanks for the...
Well, my dad always said the only dumb question was one you didn't ask.
1)Yes, on that particular project, three bits are used, 1/8 cutting, 1/16 tapered, and 90 degree V.
2)no obvious wobble in...
Yes I did bud. Bought new bits all around. cutting, carving, and removed the Quick change adapters from all my deco bits.
I am using the carvetight chuck, I have seen this only with my 1/16 carving bit so far. Cut outs seem to be right on the money, and so does all my centerline text.
I know I had a frozen bearing...
Hi all, I am here again with problems.
I have been doing a lot of carving, and the machine seemed to be better.
All of a sudden, the last three carvings have suffered a terrible quality...
Thanks for the tip dickb, you were right on the money. I had one bearing totally seized, and another that was very tight. A little lubing and loving, and I am back up and carving again.
I will...
Ok, I had thought I had found the answer to my own problems in a couple of different threads, but so far I am still having the same issues.
When I start a new project, and start loading the bits...
Wow, some nice projects!
Thanks for sharing these with us.. always nice to see what others are doing with this hobby!
I am in need of a clay pot pattern. I am not an artist, especially when it comes to making it 3d looking.
I have made a line art one, but it lacks the depth that a true 3d pattern has.
...
LOL No kidding, I have to totally agree with that!
Man those are very nice, thanks for sharing
Yep, it was my fault, or it appears to have been. Actually a combination of things.
Apparently with all the taking on and off of the head cover, the removing and replacing of ztruck and then...
Well, I am pretty sure it wasn't the piece of wood, as it did it on three different pieces, of different widths.
I called myself being careful to make sure everything was seated correctly during...
Well, I fixed part of the problem. I went back and reread my instructions on installing the carvetight, and disassembled, to a degree, re-adjusted my bearings, re-tightened the belt tension screw,...
