Hey Bill,
I work in the sign industry and I have a machine called a Gerber Edge that can print solid color patches of any size or detail onto clear adhesive vinyl. That vinyl then can be applied...
If the paper is still on, I've kept it on. Just watch the extra as it's being cut it tends to get shuved back under the cut head, which for me hasn't been a problem but with a big enough carving and...
This looks like a combination of issues. The wood to soft and the font strokes to narrow and the size might be to small. I have had good luck with 1" text but not with the softer woods or very narrow...
Here is my solution, a work still in progress. The box is made up of 2 chambers, the top chamber, that the machine sits in (also doubles for sound surpression, being fully carpeted inside, less the...
Less is more, when cutting in plastics, the best results are coming from .125" or less, and back lit. Don't forget to flip your image before cutting, so it can be viewed back lit.
Centerline is simply using a Straight bit or 60 to 90* V-bit to cut letters into the surface of a board rather than CARVING with the 1/16" carving bit. Centerline also takes a quarter the time to...
The CW can do a lot of cutting functions, however if you have a table saw or other full size equipment you'll tend to still use those for cutting, it's just faster. The CW was created mostly for it's...
I have not carved it yet but I might. As you see it, 15 x 15", it would take 4 hours on best to produce. However if I send it out as it is I get all kinds of warnings about potential trouble. Size,...
Check this out, a simple wood grain improted into the designer and added to a surface to make a smooth board look old.
Well that's a good price and I know others were looking for this cabability as well. It does do a nice job.
Post some images of what you might be doing in the GALLERY, we love to see what people...
I am a beta tester and it's not just a font, its a program that is applied to the fonts installed. So it's not so simple as that. What are you triing to do?
I have used my centerline alot and it is a great feature. When I first started testing it was very rough with many of the installed fonts, but after a couple upgrades of software and they seemed to...
What else come's with it? Would this be considered a full upgrade, will you have the full program?.
My local Sears here in Denver has the quick change but no bits yet. You have to order them through CW.
Rumer has it the center line feature is an upgrade on the software, not included in the base software that comes with the machine.
The system is actualy set up for a down draft type dust collector already. You just have to make a gasket to seal the bottom to a down draft setup. There are some pictures of some in the forum.
Glad to here the your having good success, post your carvings in the gallery so we can see what your doing. Always looking for new ideas.
Hey Jon, nice job.
I think this kind of step by step training is really needed you should do more. You seem to have come up with a method that can be used for most any image. Thank you for your...
The angel piece is a library image that come with the system. What do you need to know?
hartwoods, it look like the image of the donkey is a very low res image. You need to import it at a better resolution or take it into something like Corel Draw and trace the artwork and add shading...
I went to my local Sears here in Denver yesterday, and no bits. They had the quick change portion but no bit's.
Jon, really nice design, I thought this is what we'd be seeing from you after the design help I've seen you giving. Your going to do good with this machine.
devin07,
I played with your file and this is what I came up with. Toss the dome setting, not sure why it's on if you want a flat bottom, not needed. Anyway the sides will have to stay, the...
I would and do recommend this machine to anyone I think might be interested or in need. I've had mine for some time now (one of the original 200) and have had very good results. Minor issues (98%...
