Ok, I broke the code.... The cutting bit with the pre-installed collar needs the 1/2" stop collar installed also. Did't have that problem when I was using the split collar and my old cutting bit. ...
While that sound like a fix for something I might have done ("put the guide on backwards") but I haven't done anything to the machine except update the software and change over to the new bit...
