Really like the contrast with what I am guessing is purple heart.
Modified Oscars' Tufted Titmouse into a cardinal with a little tool work after carving. Painted, twisted some wreath wire to make a loop, drilled a small hole in the back and inserted it with...
Another one of the layered plagues. Managed to get this one done as a gift for a young couple about to tie the knot. Base wood is sycamore, mahogany last name and poplar first names.
Didn't look at it as a two piece project , the channel then becomes simple. Only looked at the bend in the stem and wondering how to do it. Had experimented years ago with both smoking and making of...
Nice design. With a good finish it will be a collectible. The biggest challenge I see is getting the hole from the lip to the chamber. Do you have a specific wood in mind?
I had done 2 spray coats of poly on these. Believe my worst mistake was not sanding the boards to fine finish grit first then the poly or lacquer. If I attempt something similar but smaller someday...
Had a request from a friends wife, didn't realize what I agreed to make. Most of my centerline carves have been a name or something small and not many letters. She wanted the lords prayer plaque....
Really like the abstract, almost like looking down on the desert. Love the wood, have to admit it's a new one for me. Keep being surprised by the varieties that pop up from around the world.
PS; Did...
Looks like you won the sanding war. I especially like the cherry one. They both look great.
Bet they will love them, my experience with my siblings has been they appreciate that you made it most of all. Should be beautiful, having more siblings gives me more excuses to have a beer.
Thanks for the feedback, hoping to get some projects completed so I can get back to doing more carving. Already missed Halloween, don't want to miss Xmas
Managed to get in a little carve time. Made a couple of hearts for two of the granddaughters, turned out they are more Easter looking than fall. Wife found one saying she wanted for one starting to...
May have presented a challenge but the result is worth it. Beautiful.
Looks awesome, can't wait to see the finished cross. Sometimes the sanding and prep bothers me the most of the whole project but know it has to be done.
Really like how mahogany carves, for years...
That's a beautiful cross, please give us a pic when done. I'm thinking about the various types of wood and trying to decide which would do it justice.
Missed you but never dreamed it was from something this serious, thought maybe some time away in the woods. As with Oscar, fantastic news that they managed to catch it in time and we get to hear it...
As always, beautiful work. My personal preference is the owl which would probably be the most likely to break with the wing spread. Second choice would be the snake. Will be waiting for the final...
Wilbur looks good, looks like a neat carve but the 3d print model should be great setting on an end table or in a kids room.
Whoa, didn't realize I was so far out of date either. Have a pump and an semi automatic but when standing side by side you have to look at the forearm to tell which is which. From a distance its easy...
Happy wife, happy life! Really does look good though.
Thanks for the pic, it truly is worth a 1000 words seeing it open and from the side view.
Looks great, love the color combo. I'm not familiar with how a tortilla press works and the view from the pic doesn't give me enough perspective to understand how it functions.
Beautiful box and the inscription seems to say it all, obviously very special to all. Sorry for everyone's loss, they become family. Great you're in the position to provide something that will be a...
Agreed, using the wood totems keeps the flutes 'real' and natural. IMHO the printed ones would ruin the authenticity of what you're making.
Looks great, thx for the pic.
