Is there ANY hope of getting rulers (like image manipulation software) added? I sure don't like counting grid squares for placement!!!! Also, being able to "group and ungroup" elements like some word...
Thanks for the ideas/input. In response to the question regarding the "holding screw" on the motor. No, I didn't loosen it... if that needs to be done, it represents a change from the technique I use...
I ran into an interesting situation today with a new C machine with less than 5 hours of cut time. The flexshaft felt pretty warm so thought I would take it out and and give it a visual check....
To create custom background colors e.g. gray, blue, green etc., control click on the CarveWright icon in the Applications folder within the System Folder on the hardrive. Next, select "Show Package...
Thanks for your help... it worked like a charm (in Mac talk it's Control-Click)!
I was excited to see that you could change background textures/colors... but apparently it only works for the PC version. Usually there are folders etc. on a Mac that contains information for an...
I use Baltic Birch (Rocklers primarily) for most of the projects that I am involved with. If you choose to work with plywood, the number of "plys" is important for structural integrity... avoid 3...
Has anyone tried the shaft lubricant from the Foredom (flextool) people? Seems like this product might work very well since they use it on fairly high speed shaft equipment. It is reasonably priced...
I had this problem (bit plate locator) on my first machine. I ended up putting a little shim of brass (I believe is was about 1/16" thick attached with 3M double faced auto accessory tape) on the...
I would use the smallest bit possible. If you are using archival (rag) board, you may find it would cut differently since it is does not have the same wood (pulp) content that regular mat board does....

Thanks for the encouraging words. I've been frustrated but am not ready to give up. I am banking on this current machine being a keeper since I want to do some creative work with it...
I appreciate your pain!!!. Sears has been great in handling return issues. I feel sorry for them but I feel that if I'm spending $$$$ dollars on something, it should work for a little while out of...
Just curious... heftyh... were you able to buy your machine for $1444? I picked mine up for around $1587 + tax several months ago and was pretty tickled at that price. I opened a Sears charge but...
My advice is SEARS!!!! You have a 90 day return if issues arise that aren't satisfactorily resolved by CarveWright support.
Wow... if masking tape worked, think about how well things would go if you used duct tape (the universal tool).
After talking to tech support, they suggested the dime approach. I made a small wooden shim out of a dowel and covered the hole (it's a good thing I didn't use a dime... the bit came over and drilled...
Thanks for the information...
I had completed one project without problem so I think the bit was securely fitted in the chuck. It was in progress and doing fine when the error occurred so it had...
Hey guys.... I tried the search function of the forum but did not see any posts related to this issue. I was drilling a series of circles and all was going well when the bit truck went to the far...
Since we are talking about alternative/creative uses for the CW, I am an artist and am fascinated with the possibilities for creating 3-D pieces that would prove to be quite labor intensive not to...
I downloaded Sketchup and started playing around with it. Is there anyplace that you can change scale. The drawing scale seems more architectural than for smaller pieces. A little line is like 30-40...
In danger of starting a real battle, you could just buy a new Mac and have both Ford and Chevy. It will be interesting to see how popular the dual platform Mac will be. No doubt more $$ than a lot of...
I am looking at a high density wax for some foundry work. Tool and Die shops use this material for machining prototypes.
Amazing..... I just built and installed a down draft table and it is unbelievable what a difference it makes in chip collection. The work area is much cleaner and not near the amount of dust/crud in...
I guess search should be my first response when I have a question.... just need to get in that mode! Thanks for the suggestion. Oh... it seems like a lot of new appliances/tools only have the two...
