Color me jealous. Both are beautiful carvings and IMHO the pierced welcome carving needs no more coloring. It is perfect as is. If you don't mind my asking where did you get the patterns for these?

The picture is too small to do anything with. You need a larger, high resolution one.

Burning is usually caused by a dull bit. Try changing bits even if you are using a new one. Possibly a bad bit.
Most graphics programs (Paint.net, Gimp, etc.) will have an option to convert to shades of gray. They might just call it by something different like "Desaturate" in Gimp or "Black and White" in...

Try opening Designer as admin. Then open your pattern.

The 7" rule wouldn't apply here as the machine never measured the board and any way I did allow for the 7" rule. The message came after I told it to stay under the roller.
I did say after "stay under roller" option. The board is .75 thick and the rollers are clean. The head pressure is a tad over 100.
Thanks, bergerud. I don't hear any click when I clamp the head so I guess maybe that could be the problem.
I keep getting this message after "stay under board option". I have tried different boards. What do you suggest is the problem?
Nice! Good looking finish on the pine.

Your main concern is the graphics card. Get the best you can afford. Dell is a good computer, in fact, I am sending this from a Dell All-In-One desktop. AVOID WINDOWS 10 LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! If you...
