I have been out of touch with my Carvewright and would like to know if I can download newest version of software without going thru upgrading.

Shouldn't the sled have solid wood around the carve area so that the sensors read the sled properly?

Are you using a dark or very light colored wood. Try the masking tape trick.
I had the same problem a while ago. CW Tech support suggest a new reader, that wasn't the problem, it ended up being the card. I now have two readers.

Great information. I live about 20 minutes away and didn't know they existed.
I've ripped a couple of belts, but haven't done so it quite some time. I sand down the leading and trailing edges of the boards so they are sharp. Don't know for sure, but it has helped me.
