Thanks gents.
Another one done.

Hopefully not too frightening and make the kids cry. Still trying to get better at digital sculpting.
Another very helpful neighbor likes angels so I thought to make her a trinket box as well....
Nice! Congrats and well deserved on the win. Definitely a unique and cool clock.
I am calling it complete for this project.
First and second coat of lacquer on. I'll let it harden a little bit more and then lightly sand and give it one last coat.
I got lazy and I'm going to use some metal hinges. I need to start designing some angels for my other neighbor's trinket box.
This box should be done by tonight. I'll post pictures then but a very...
Beautiful project. Really awesome painting skills.
No worries. Hope your grandson loves the carving.
Not familiar with the character but found a picture on the web which I ran through Shadermap. It was still a little rough so cleaned it up a bit more with Corel Paintshop.
Hopefully someone can do...
I am using blender 3d. The newest version is a beast in a good way.
I had a bunch of honey do's today so didn't get a chance to start. Probably get it done in the next few days.
Hope to see a few examples from you guys.
This was a good exercise to go back and practice this stuff. Obviously there are different roads to get to the same destination.
I learned when grouping multiple groups it removes the grouping...
Thought I'd take you all along a little project. I am making a trinket box for a friend who is a bee keeper. Here is the initial design.
This is one of my favorite box designs because it is super...
Ditto on the comments. Looks great so far. Can't wait to see the final project.
Rick,
I only have designer 2.xx so can't open your mpc. Means I also don't know the specific buttons for designer 3. Hopefully someone can see what is going on with it.
But I went back to my...
Rick, here are a few more attempts.
Different ways to get at it. I re-did the pattern using designer, 3d model (STL import), and rendered 2d image. Three completely different ways to get the same...
In designer, black is top and white is bottom. So you have to invert the pattern after importing the image into designer. You want to make sure you have 100% black and 100% white for top and bottom...
Can't wait to see the end result. The design looks great.
From our family to yours. Happy Thanksgiving.
Grateful for the friendships and knowledge shared.
Time to go cook the turkey.
Here is an attempt.
Pattern is just the blank paddle. This is how I feel most days. I used to be good once.
Michael, thanks. That's what I was thinking as well as I was doodling.
Went back and looked at the pattern is was pretty badly aligned. I've reloaded it so its actually straight this time.
Just playing. The pattern is just one segment that can be repeated for any length of border.
I wasn't too careful with the alignment so make sure to use the snap to feature in designer.
Early Merry Christmas as well. Hopefully its useful to someone this season.
Merry early Christmas 2019.
Sharing this pattern hopefully early enough that you can use it for the holiday carving season.
I have not carved this yet so if you find any issues with it let me...
It will not be raster. The bit will cut along the line at the specified depth until it cuts through to final depth.
It might be a case by case transfer using different techniques based on complexity of the design.
For the example all I did was import it as an image. Traced it, applied a cut path to it, and...
