Based on what I've seen after Floyd's idea, I'm pretty sure he's nailed it, too, I just don't have the time right now to explore further.... will gladly update when I do to let you all know what the...
Sorry Steve but nope- I already stated the rollers are fine.... I can hear the switches click when I raise them, and the self-tests showed compression was positive.
OK, I did that and found, with head down and locked and rollers compressed, that the reading was now 150-ish. Moving across the Y-axis, I found the dead spot that was reading 0, then lifted the FFC...
It's a shorter test board, about 9in, I had a smaller project due to go on it (birdhouse escutcheon), tried with "NOT Stay Under Rollers", then WITH just to see what happened.... same as before I...
Just replaced the Board Sensor on my CX running Designer 2 and it STILL says "Please Clear Board Sensor" whenever X-travel gets out from under the left roller (maybe coincidental, maybe not). That's...
OK, good to know, thanks once again!
BTW machine is running like a top right now, so all is well.
Holy cow am I relieved!
I did all that already (read below) but it went wonky right at startup.
Was just gonna do it AGAIN when I removed re-inserted card for the 8th-9th time... suddenly it...
contrast works fine, just lightens/darkens blocks
I did reformat card before uploading project, I usually do after erase for reload... I'll try it again maybe?
Tried hitting ENTER, STOP, arrow...
I must have left my machine ON after last carve a few days ago but am not sure... I removed card to load project, then went back to machine to set up to run. I can't be sure (I cycled ON/OFF switch...
I've found that the rollers do seem to flatten in certain spots causing the Z-truck to brake hard along the rails- this can sometimes be overcome by raising/lowering the truck by hand several times...
It worked fine, then not, in use for weeks
OK I'll give it a shot- even tho it WAS running then it stopped. Would that give me a "check cut motor" error message?
It's been quite a while since I had to t'shoot switches, forgot each switch...
thanks for any help
Cover sensor check shows "closed".
It is my understanding that NO motors should work if the cover is open...yet the Y-axis is still running.
Just a few minutes into a new carve: max depth .125" in pine using 1/16" carve bit- the cut motor wound down to a stop while the Y-axis kept dragging the bit across the surface. Never saw this...
You are interchanging the terms depth, thickness and height for each other.
Yes, you CAN have a .25depth pattern and regardless of it's (.128) HEIGHT it's gonna still be .25 deep- hence .25 THICK-...
What I generally do is to plan out a little sign, placard, etc to each end of the piece to 'fill up' the board- the main center carving obeys the 7in rule while the ends don't go to waste.
I just...
Hmmmm.......... lemme see, this is how I did it last time.....

Well, OK, I got a week out of it before it happened again- exactly as before, but not yet as drastic a clunk in Z-axis. I removed the dust covers and rolled the truck up and down the guides a good...
That is badass!
Al, that's a great insight- I always look for interference in such forms, but saw none here.
I contacted Tech Support (who couldn't see the vids I posted for that purpose) and after going thru the...
I wanted to post the video of the mechanical behavior on here first so there's no confusion/translation errors.
As they say, "This ain't my first rodeo."
LOL
I didn't crane my neck around far enough to see that apparently!
Now WHERE'S that f@rgin' wrench at?
