It will take some time, but…
You can take the cupped board (depending on how cupped it is) and wet it with plain water and then put it between two pieces of larger wood and slowly clamp it back...
Ok, finally got the machine all back together.
It's down to .004 difference, near side is still higher, but can't get it any closer.
Ran a test carve, seems good, will do a full carve later today...
Thanks Al,
I will give that a try today. I didn't even think of measuring with the Z Data option.
Thank you sir,
I just wanted to make sure before I did it that it wouldn't throw anything else off balance. (make matters worse)
I'm thinking I can even fine tune the height by using the jam nuts...
Ok, here is the issue…
I carved a few items and they came out fine (narrow stock). I then went to carve a wide (12") piece and it carved lopsided – far (non-keyboard) side deeper than near side. ...
Update on Flexshaft temp issue...
The temp started to rise again on my flexshaft, and I also noticed that my carves were off on depth. The near side (keyboard) was not carving as deep as the far...
Peep,
The HF 2HP Dust Collector has more of a hum to it, (after it's running for about 10 mins or so you forget it's even on). The CW drowns out the hum from it. lol
KeystoneChuck,
Just sent you a PM
You could go into Designer and delete the back side carve, and then upload the project with just the front of the carve and hope the machine measures the board within a hair of the original...
Ok,
I think I got it.
Thanks
Lawrence,
You do a carve region and put your text in the region? (conforming?)
How deep do you make the carve region when you start?
I also noticed that when I slid the core out of the "A" machine (that has never been lubed) it had ALOT of lube on it (thick). When I lubed my new one I thought maybe I had put too much lube on it,...
Ok Al,
I took the core out of the flexshaft on my "A" machine and put it into the flexshaft on my "C" machine.
(No burrs on either end of either core)
So far my top temp has been 106 (I think I...
Al,
Tomorrow I am pulling the core from my "A" machine and going to try it in the "C" machine.
A little leary about trying the entire flexshaft.
Lawrence – 120 is a little warm to hold on to for an extended period of time, not too just feel it.
Bergerud – I have not read anywhere of a “break – in period”, if there is one I wasn’t aware of...
Ok, I have now tried using the following lubricants on the flexshaft –
“Dry Molly” lube (temp was around 140)
“Yamalube” (temp was between 120 and 130)
I just tried using “Crane Cam lube” (temp...
Lawrence
Would this be the same "formula", only the different packaging?
I think part of my problem now is that I still have residue from the dry lube under the Yamalube.
Any suggestions on how to clean the flex shaft, before I try a new lube?
What kind of lube were you using?
I tried using the dry Moly lube from Grainger and that didn't work...temp kept hitting around 140.
I just switched to "Yamalube" about a week ago, not happy with...
Designer does not recognize “.tiff” files on my computer. I need to convert from “.tiff” to “.bmp” then import into Designer.
Thanks Steve
Nice looking sign Steve.
What font did you use on it?
Possibly make a jig and then make up some coasters. (Dorm rooms, Family rooms, Pool side, etc.)
Or you could glue them into a stack and then put them on the lathe?
Or you could also put them into...
I’m trying to locate this POM (March 2011) to purchase and download, but have been unable to find it. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Nevermind... I found it.
Thanks...
