Here is another option that might be a little eaiser on your bits, it is also pricey and I am not too sure if the wood grain would let you show detail.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, stuff just happens........I am running Firmware 1.125 and I can say that my machine carves 3/8" material with no problems yet, I have carved 5...
I bring digital photo's in with Corel photo paint, just remember to convert to grey scale and they turn out pretty good. bill
