I've downloaded it, but have not tried it (yet). I do have a few items photographed and ready to go, just gotta find a little bit of extra time.
Downloaded and installed it 3 months ago and still trying to use it.

BUMP... I am pretty surprised this thread died. I just downloaded this to my iPad today and I'm going to set up my first 3D scan sometime today.. I don't have the STL importer so I won't be testing the file with my Carvewright machine.
Has anyone actually attempted to carve something you created with this 4 year old tech? ;)

I played with this about a year+ ago. The results I got back then didn't have a lot of detail. It was really cool though because it superimposed the picture on the 3d object. Great for game design.
I am sure technology has done leaps and jumps over the last year and a half. There are several option out there.
Edit: There are low cost ways to get into 3d scanning outside of the internet based software companies. The issue I had at the time with them was the images they create become their intellectual property. Using a Microsoft Kinect scanner (cheap used one at gamestop) is the easiest way to get 3d images. There are several programs out there that can use this scanner as the input camera. I just ran out of time and had too many other projects to stay focused on this project. Has ton of potential. I was using the free demo for kscan3d for my the experiments but there are other programs.
Again, please let us know what your experience was like.
Hi Dave; I have messed with it a few years back. It works a lot like the "David program" (http://download.cnet.com/DAVID-Laser...-10670839.html) It is a lot of work to take all the photos, and you needed to send in the photos for processing. With the David program you can make some of your equipment and process your own images.Quote:
