I looked all over for another thread with this error code and couldn't find any. I am trying to repair a machine that I just received from my grandpa and it is obviously malfunctioning. I just replaced the Flex Shaft Assembly as it was melted. Any help would be appreciated.

Did the new Flex CATCH on the top cover slot causing the Z Error?

I get this error as soon as I try to start a project. It did it prior to the install of the new flex cable as we'll. I was hoping it was the bad flex cable causing the error.
Exactly when does the stall occur? As soon as the truck moves? When the bit touches the bit plate, the wood, the sliding plate??
Another possibility...
Check for "frozen" bearings on the z-truck, too. If the machine was sitting dormant for awhile, any sawdust powder may have solidified in a bearing(s) and is interfering with the up/down gliding of the Z-truck. A thorough cleaning of the bearings ( a repeated spraying of WD-40 in the bearing - with towels covering the traction belts to protect from overspray - and blowing out with compressed air) may work...or bearing adjustment and/or replacement could be in order IF the bearing(s) is the problem, that is.
