How much is this forum worth to you?
I had an interesting conversation with my Uncle the other night about the CW and the forum/community that follows it. The funny thing was that he is in the market for a larger CNC Router and was thinking of buying a ShopBot at one time, he has now moved on to a different machine but is weeks away from ordering one. I guess ShopBot has the same type of community that helps each other out like the CW. He saw this as a benefit but has not really added it to helping him purchase the machine. My thoughts were this forum is worth a lot of money to someone like me and cannot believe someone could pass up the opportunity to have a community of users help you out.
So thanks to everyone for the help and discussion, has anyone else used this in their decision making about certain types of equipment or software?
Trying to keep up to Date
forqnc,
Hang in there, even if your not carving, -- your knowledge of the Machine and shared info is valued the same as anyone else's on the CW Forum.
A little suggestion or thought on a pattern, project or carving may be just the bit of encouragement and info other folks are looking for. http://forum.carvewright.com/images/icons/icon14.gif
This forum has been great for me in many ways
I just wanted to say that I have not been a member of a "forum" before being one here. It has allowed me to feel a part of something that is good, gave me access to good ideas, access to help when needed, and a place to get my ego stroked on occasion.
All in all it ranks right up there with the machine itself (as others have said).
How valuable is the forum to me?
I found about the forum around the same time I melted down my flex shaft.
After finding out that Sears had no clue what a CompuCarve was and seeing LHRs number in the back of the manual and making a call, they informed me of the new lube procedure and of course the CW Forum. They even sent me a knew flex shaft assembly :-) .
It was my very first sign up for any kind of forum and I soon found out about all of the great people who are here and how they will go out of their way to help the new carvers. Like Jerry (CNSRANCH) posted about the senior members and their posts, I went back into the archives and read just about every post from the start of the forum. At the time I was more than over whelmed with the things they were talking about and what they were doing with the machine. After many long blurry cross eyed nights of reading and then trying/applying their tips and techniques with the software and machine the light bulb was on and the fire started...
Many thanks to those who were here before me (hope some do still check in on occasion), to those who came on line with me and to those who have joined since..
