Tracking error when loading board FYI

Started a carve and when board was measuring length got the error. Retried same result. Checked the board, looked ok but I made a new one using the planer with same result. Narrow board so tried a wider one with same result. Tried same board in another machine and no prob. Watched and saw it happened every time when the board was feeding to the left and as it touched the outfeed roller it would stop and the error occurred. Tested head pressure and had 82 lbs, checked both rollers individually and they were identical 72 lbs. Checked the roller and it rolled easily, seemed to be the same as another machine by feel. On a whim I sanded the top edge at the end of the board rounding it. When it touched the roller it went thru ok and the carve ran ok. Removed the keypad end panel and worked the roller up and down while blowing air from every angle at the end of the roller..
Put it all back together and have run multiple carves ok. Never had anything like this, have had compression switch failures. Hope it saves someone else a headache.

Could it be the outfeed tray?

While measuring the board goes over the outfeed tray ok, comes back in and goes out over the infeed ok. It's after finding the end of board on the outfeed end and starting back toward the outfeed roller it stops when it touches the roller and gives the error. Thought it was cleared after the cleaning and have run several short carves ok. Late yesterday it occurred again, I rounded the top edge end of the board on the outfeed end and the carve ran fine. Will pursue again today.

Tried a carve and had the failure during board measurement. Decided to pursue the same cause area as before. Removed the side panels and blew around the roller and bushings at each end while compressing and spinning the roller. Placed paper towels under each end and then used WD40 on the rollers and bushings at both ends while manually compressing and spinning the roller.. Assembled and have run 10 board measurements using various width boards with no failures. Time will tell.

Have now run several carves and test measured 15 boards and all appears well there. My best friend 'Murphy' showed up as I was testing things, found I had lost the functionality of a row of buttons on the LCD panel, the 4, 5, 6 and down arrow would not work. Figured out that somewhere in the multiple removals of the end panel the ribbon cable had been damaged. Probably by a little unfolding of one of the creases that were created by original folds in it. Replaced it, quite a challenge getting it thru the slot to reach the controller. Ended up doing some fine surgery to open the slot up with multiple cables in place. Assume the multiple cables going thru the slot were all fed at the same time. Anyway, all good. With the cold snap a good day to hide in the shop.

Glad to hear all seems well on one end. Sorry to hear you lost a cable, but sounds as if you had one on hand and are back up and running. That's great, hopefully all your issues are behind you now.
