Either use the pierced function or draw a manual path leaving voids at the ends of the path. When using an outline for the path and assigning a bit or cut path it will cut through any manual tabs.

thank you, blhucthens... This has been eluding me and I understand now.
Here is an example of a 1.5" deep cutout with tabs using the 1/8" cutting bit. This is in 1.187 and the only add-on required is conforming vectors.

I am not sure what you mean. The pattern (of a tusk) is called slice1 as it was from an stl slice.
