[QUOTE=lawrence;163871]I'm not sure about the energizer bunny part, but here is another... and I have to say that this one is making me smile when I post it because it really looks like it is going to be an awesome carve. This one took a little work in the pattern editor to make it a clean pattern, but I am quite happy with the result. With the exception of public domain items, I am going to link the original owner to ensure credit is given where it is due.

If any of you get a chance to carve this or any of the other projects, please post pics of your results so that we can all enjoy them. Oh yeah... and buy the pattern editor folks, it is worth so much more than $200. You have no clue how many other amazing files I am making right now; I just can't post them because they are from sites that do not allow you to redistribute. These files are but a drop in the bucket of what is out there.

Looked at the obj..yep a lot of clean up needed..scans produce such a heavy triangulated mesh it renders it untweakable in 3d by grabing vert faces and edges...I could bring the obj in zbrush create a depthmap and then use projection master and project it on a plane and sculpt smooth tweak away with sculpting brushes...the other other method I started getting into which I like a lot better is retoplogizing the model to a low poly model..makes tweaking and editing SO much easier and in the long run way faster...if your using the pattern editor for this the method is basically the same as my zbrush projection method...check out sculptris I beleive you can do the same thing with a lot more power in the tools
Lawrence,
other program you want to check out is coat3d..they have added bas reief feature for cleaning up stl's and obj's..I just bought it last night..cool program for retopology. I bought the $99.00 educational version..pretty cool anyone can buy only limits are 7 layers and and size export for texture. I don't need the program for texturing models so for me it's a steal at 99 bucks..just for the ease of the retopo http://www.3d-coat.com/play_video.ph...relief_Tut.mp4
