Following contours of dome

How do I get a pattern to follow the contours of a dome instead of the height being constant to the height of the board. If I have an 8 inch board with a 6 inch dome, I want the pattern to follow the dome at a constant height. I would also like a pattern to follow the contours of any feathering at the top and bottom. Is this possible?

If I understand your question correctly all you need to do is place the pattern on top of your dome and then right click the pattern and set merge to additive. Then you can change the height of the pattern off the dome by changing the height control instead of depth control.

You guys are great, it is exactly what I am looking for. I purchased the Neoclassical Keepsake box and when you open it up in Designer it is hard to believe all the groups and cuts involved but you sit down to design a complex project you understand why. Thanks for the info.
