I like to look at all your projects and wanted to post one.
This is a toy box for my granddaughter. The flower and hummingbird are from shared carvings ( Thanks ) The carvings on the ends are from a photo of her first steps.

Very nice job.....beautiful.

I have been tasked with building 5 toy boxes for my grandkids. Actually, they were supposed to have been 2008 Christmas presents, but I ran out of time.

I too have been making relief carvings of the grandkids, similar to yours. My wife usually paints them a glossy base color (usually black), then dry-brush highlights the various colors, giving just a hint of the actual colors in the source photo. The effect is pretty neat and goes over quite well when we give them as gifts. I'll see if I can post a photo or two of a couple of the projects.

Again, good job.........

Wonderful, looks like a labor of Love. Wish I’d saw this before I did one for my great grandson, he is only 2.5 months, plenty of time to do it over, Thanks for sharing.

That is a wonderful job sure to become a family airloom. Did you make it out of hickory? I love the look of it

That is really nice looking work, Wid T!:)
What kind of wood were the carvings made from?

Thanks for the kind words.:D
RayTrek, the painting was done with paint pens and the bird was a blend,
blue base and green added with a art brush. I put 3 coats of sanding sealer
on the wood frist.
OldJoe & Luckettg The wood is Ash, for the top, framing and the carvings, and the panels are 1/4" plywood.
This was my second project using the CC and I'am very pleased with it.

Thanks Again
Wid T
