Evidently there is a world wide shortage of bits for the CarveWright or Compucarve. I have had bits on order since long before Christmas and have yet to receive any. I have orders in to Amazon, MachineryDistributors and possibly another source. Amazon warned me early in December not to expect delivery before January 6. I am now concerned the wait may be longer due to the shortage. I have even considered ordering a new machine just for the bits.

Most of the mentioned suppliers are just drop shipping from LHR and ordering through them will delay your order that much farther. Seems LHR is holding all the cards at present.

We may be just "drop shipping" from LHR but take a look at the prices.... thank you for the mention.

I just received an email from Amazon.com asking if I wished to continue my order with them for bits (included bit set, carving and cutting bits) because they now were estimating delivery as late as 6 February 2009. This leads me to believe there may be a systemic problem with parts and bits supply for the CW. Although I am anxious to get into CW operation I will await further study of this situation before I make any purchases. Thanks to all concerned and Jason, I will be getting in touch when the time arrives for me to order another machine.

Just something you might want to try. Last time I was at our local Sears store they had a few of the bits on hand. Maybe if you live close to one try there or maybe go online and check the catolog.
Just a thought.

Sears had carving and 1/8" cutting bits with adaptors for $49.98 at the Rapid City store yesterday.

If you have trouble finding the carving bits, another place that carries them is Lowes. It took a week to get them.

and there carving bit and adapter is only $28.98. w- free shipping to nearest store.
Since Lowe's is a new distributor maybe they get priority shipments.
