Hi All,

I know it has been discussed on here several times about the "Check Cut Motor" error.

Well to make a long stor short, I was having this problem. LHR sent me out a new cut motor and new sensor. I had to give them a $40 core deposit that would be refunded if I returned the old motor.

Well I decided to keep the old motor as the only thing wrong with it was the magnet was missing from the shaft. The old method of shrink wrap failed and the magnet was not on the shaft.

Last week I was ordering some other parts and asked if I could order the "new generation" magnet holder for the cut motor. It is basically a round piece of plastic that slips over the shaft and holds the magnet in place.

LHR allowed me to order the "new generation" holder for $5.00.

It arrived yesterday and I proceded to take apart and clean my old motor (it only has 34 hours) Boy is that a lot of dust that gets in there.

The original magnet was there, just shattered and not attached to the shaft.

The magnet they use on the cut motor sensor is the same magnet used in the bit case. I took a magnet from the bit case, put it on the motor shaft and inserted the "new" plastic holder.

my "new" cut motor works perfect.

Sorry, no pictures, did not think about it until after.

Long story short, if you have an older cut motor, order the $5.00 part, insert a new magnet and you are ready to go.

Pete

I searched on "cut motor" and there are more threads than I have time to "weed thru". Can anyone post any photos (or point to some) of this motor/magnet combo? I looked at my motor (didn't remove it), but I don't know where to look for the infamous magnet.

Thanks,

Thanks! Now I know what to look for if I have to open up the motor.

Oh, one other thing. When did LHR start using the "new and improved" magnet? I bought my CW in July 2008.

Thanks,
