I could not locate the various reccomended lubes for the FS after gettting my CW 1.5 weeks ago so I opted to get some Gunk/Liquid Wrench Multi Purpose White Lithium Grease with Cerflon at the local big orange box store.
The FS is supposed to come from the factory with Lithium so I thought it was a safe bet for a $6 can.
It sprays on thick, let it soak in a bag for 30 minutes, wiped off excess and all seems well. I've only got 15 hours on it but there were two, 4 hour carves and the FS never got past warm to the touch.
I have to say again, I've been working wood most of my 47 years and this machine has made it really enjoyable to be in the workshop again. Anytime in the shop is good but I am making more excuses to be there now :)

Cheers!

Try Cam Assembly Lube or Motor Assembly Lube, picked that idea up from someone around here a couple of months ago and it works even better.

I have been using Break-Free Lube CLP-5 on the flexshaft for over a year with no problems this stuff is great, the shaft never runs hot and no more viabrasion in the shaft, I have 2 shafts and I keep 1 shaft in a tube of lube all the time and 2 days before I replace the one in the machine I let it drip off, I do this every 50 cut hours.

Hello Bill,

You may have missed the announcement made some time ago...lubricants with Lithium Grease are not recommended for the flexshaft.
