should one be able to move the cutting head by hand.
Like up and down or back and forth, while the machine is not
running of course?
Does anyone have a parts list with pictures or something to that effect, so when people on here are talking about parts and their location, us newby's would have some idea what your talking about.

You can move the head both directions. When the power switch is on there should be less resistance than with the power off. There is an exploded diagram pdf. I forget where it is located at the moment.

Jeff, Check out the Troubleshooting section. It has a lot of great info (PDF's) on the machine. It's especially helpful in learning the lingo (nomenclature).

Daniel, on my CW there is less resistance when the power switch is "off".
