Hello to all.
New owner from Canada!

I received my new carvewright last wednesday :)

It all started with a "front roller stuck" Thanks to this board I have been able to troubleshoot an find a fix by
applying pressure on the roller and releasing it a few times and it all seams to be good.
All went well for a test carving of 1:45h ... with a couple of flaws in the design as one would expect.

Now I want to get dust out of the machine.
would this be a good set-up?
Down draft table : http://busybeetools.ca/cgi-bin/picture10?NTITEM=CT121
with a 750 CFM : http://busybeetools.ca/cgi-bin/picture10?NTITEM=B2179
I also plan to get some air flow from a small airbrush compressor.

Thanks / Merci beaucoup!

Hi Scrip,

Welcome to the forum!

If you use the "search" feature in here you'll find a AMAZING amount of info on dust collection. Lot's of various threads on the subject.

I would not reccomend setting you machine on a down draft table as this will pull dust through the whole machine including places you want to keep dust out of. There is a slot in the middle of the machine designed for dust collection. A few minutes spent with the search tool will find a lot of other useful information (as Chris said).

As for dust collection units the filtration abilities of the filter bag are very important. I would suggest trying to find a unit with a 2-2.5 micron filter bag. Larger filter screen sizes means that the most dangerous fine dust is being circulated back out into your shop (and lungs).

Chris is right, do a search there is a lot of info. (You may have to use quotes if it tells you it is invalid.)

The CRAFTEX Portable Downdraft Table looks great,
But you really need a top with just a slot with weather stripping around it
to match the DD slot in the bottom of the machine only.
It will work much better and safer than pulling to dust through the entire machine and its electronics.
Lots of folks just build thier own DD Tops or DD Cabinets to suit the needs of their own machines.

I just finished making a down draft box for my machine and it works great.
Almost no dust in machine when finished. How do you upload some pics???

You do the "Attachment" much like an attachment in eMail. Here is the chart to show the size restrictions.

I usually eMail the attachment to myself (reducing it as I build the mail).
Here is the way I accomplish that portion.

Maybe these pictures will upload this time. It really gets most of the cuttings and dust. Very little cleaning left to do.
