I wanted to share my first attempt with the machine. I'm very pleased and have been testing woods and qualities for a few days now. This is 7"x7", Red Aeromatic Cedar which carved very clean and crisp. I have also done this NW Haida design in Poplar which was very soft and did not accept the shallow draft setting very well. I am a hand carver as well as Chainsaw so this tool is a wonderfully clean addition to my toolset.

Hope to hear and speak with you all in the near future.

Cheers,
Bruce a.k.a 3DbME

Welcome, Bruce! Excellent work and I look forward to seeing your future projects.

Also, was wondering if you have a website that I/we could visit to see your chainsaw work and hand carvings as well!

Bruce,

Welcome to the CW Forum,
I have carved several pieces in Aeromatic Cedar with a good deal of success,
even though my sons tell me it make my shop smell like a big Hamster Cage.
We'll be looking forward to more of your in put,
also if you could share Photos of your projects
we'd love to see them.

The 'embossed' HappySun was one of the first carvings I did and has been a 'testbed' for the different techniques and equipment I've utilized. The original was done with jut Xacto knives and basswood and took about 30+ hours.

The small, debossed, basswod with marquetry inlay Sun Jewlery Box took 20+ hours to do with conventional carving tools and a Dremel.
The interior of the box uses woven cedar strips on the top lid and inlay cedar base.

This latest 'debossed' version using the CarveWright took 2 hours of time on Photoshop seperating the different elements for depth definition. The actual machine 7"x7" cedar carving took 2 hours!!

After a couple of power failures that were caused by static electricity while vacuming sawdust that was collecting on the Yaxis rail.

The final 'Embossed" sucessfull 12"x12" poplar version with some revisions took only 4 hours. The chip out was a result of shallow draft ad the carving tool dragging across. I would like to resole this problem with a change in the rate of feed.

Does anyone know how to slow down the head feed for critical areas of detail???

I am in love with this machine!

Comments and constructive criticism is always encouraged. Thanks for viewing.

Thanks for the Site, some really interesting stuff to dig through.
I even recognized a few farmilure names and faces there. http://forum.carvewright.com/images/icons/icon14.gif
