Hey all,
I'm getting ready to store my machine for a long period of time. Going to be gone away for a job and need to put it up so the wife can have the garage back again. Any tips on things to do before putting it away? Here is my plan of attack on it, any additional input would be appreciated.

1. Thorough cleaning, inside and out (to include taking off the sides)
2. Lubing all threaded shafts with lithium grease
3. Generously lubing the QC with 3 in One oil with a baggy rubberbanded around it to catch all drippage
4. Rubbing 3 in One on all of the bit adapters to prevent rust
5. Lubing all sliding rails with 3 in One.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

The only thing that I can add to your list is put it back in the box and store it in the house where the temp and Humidity is controled.

Carl,
Thanks for the tip, I'd love to do that, but we just don't have the room for it inside.

I just noticed where you are at. My main consern was the moisture, I see that I was conserned for nothing. Wish you luck with the job.

maybe try to find some of the packets that come in thing to absorb moisture and wrap it in a big bag and seal it up good. you might be able to find some of these at a packageing store or maybe your local gunshop. theyre in all the gun boxes when they ship them

just my thought

and if you dont have room just ship it up to me and being the nice guy i am ill store it for you and even run it once in a while(just to keep it lubed of course)

hope you can stay in touch with the forum and good luck on your job

Twas the night before leaving
and all through the shop
not a tool was in motion
not even a mop

The Carvewright was cleaned
of wood chips and dust
metal sufaces lubed
to prevent pesky rust

With saws put away
all snug in the rack
the wife was quite happy
to have the garage back

As I surveyed the scene
with a tear in the eye
I thought of the workshop
I'll be saving to buy

And so with a grin
I leave my machine for now
knowing I'll still make sawdust
some way, some how

For whether I go
for work, fun or frolic
I always shall be
forever a Carvaholic

Heading out for the new job in the morning folks. Thought ya'll might get a kick out of that lil poem. I'll still be hitting the forum from time to time. Take care all and Happy Carving!!!!

Brady,

How would you feel about us including your poem in our next newsletter? We all got a big kick out of it, and we would like to post it on the newsletter.

Any objections?
