I was wondering if jpeg files could be converted to the pattern files.I want to take a pet photo and carve it onto a piece of wood.

.jpeg CAN be used but are not recommended due to the compression routine used to make the file causes a lot of noise that the CW will pick and carve. The ideal format is .png or most any other non-compressed format.

Just a word of warning, if you plan on just taking a picture and expecting to just import and get a good carving out of it you are in for some disappointment. Photo's don't have the height information that the CW needs to know how deep to carve a point. You can get good carvings with some work and cleanup of the photo but it's not going to come out like the patterns that come with the software.

Do a search on the forums and you will probably find a lot of info.
