I'm routing my first sign. My board is 24" long. I've read that my board should be 7" longer than my "project"...right? So, in Designer, am I to tell it my board is 17" long?

I assume by "routing" you are referring to carving. To stay under the rollers (always do this if you can) setup your project in the software and cut the actual board 7" longer than what was setup in the software.

Example:
Software board dimensions:
Length: 12"
Width: 5.5"
Thickness: .75"

Actual board dimensions:
Length: 19"
Width: 5.5"
Thickness: .75"

So, the answer to my question is "yes"...correct?
Since my actual physical board is 24" long, in designer, I should tell it that it is 17" long.

Excellent, Jeff. Thank you very much.
I read all of those tip and tricks articles a long time ago, before I bought the machine, and I thought I had seen something in this regard...but browsing the titles of them just now, didn't jog my memory as to which issue it was.

Thanks for the direction.
